Blackburn Point Park – one of 160 parks in our system

Today we attended the Grand Opening Ceremony of the improvements to Blackburn Point Park in Osprey. It was a gorgeous day and we are so proud to be Sarasota County residents. The ceremony was well-planned but most of all the park is fabulous.  Several improvements and additions have been made to the park including parking for 56 boat trailers, a new restroom pavilion, rowing dock, rowing ramp and a motorized boat  ramp. There are fishing piers and picnic areas and beautiful trails throughout the park. The park will play a significant role in the range of rowing opportunities in our area. Teams from around the world will use this facility while training for the 2017 World Rowing Championships, to be held at Nathan Benderson Park.

We plan on using the facility with our Hobie Tandem Island Kayak and we will bring our local fleet, the Dolphin Island Club here for a group event.
